Hi Tom Great review as usual. Love the channel overall. I am one of your fans in the U.K. As a long time E Class owner I thought I might go back to BMW. I had a couple of E60 five series back in the day. The new 48v 530d looks an enticing option. Ride comfort is important to me so I was somewhat dismayed to find, at least in the U.K. anyway, you can only get adaptive dampers if you go with the MSport Plus pack and 20” wheels on run flat tyres. If you have a wheel smaller than 20” then they are fitted with normal tyres which is at least something. You can never find an SE demonstrator in the U.K. so if you want to order that model it’s a hope and pray job. At least BMW have kept the iDrive controller unlike Audi and Mercedes (whose latest MBUX architecture on the new S Class shows they are going all touch screen too). Don’t like the fussy BMW gauge cluster with the reverse rev counter and dials “as busy as a bishops hat”. Choices eh!
Sadly no M550i wagon - and the M550d (which was available as a Touring in Europe) appears to have been deleted. Hopefully BMW come to their senses and offer the Touring as a 530d in Australia - bewilderingly, it's currently four-cylinder only.
Soft touch rubber become sticky , and changing the tyres to normal pneumatic ones truly accentuates the joy of driving! Also, i reckon the G30 should have the silhouette of the 8 series Gran coupe...imo
I love it, I appreciate the pre lci G30 but it is lacking in the looks department so the F10 has remained my 2nd favourite 5 series until now, E39 in solid first place now followed by G30 lci.
Tom, great preview. Every time I walk past my 530d G30, I find it an attractive car from so many angles. Even after 2.5 years. These updates will only enhance that imo. And to your last question in this video, yes I chose it over an X5.
Not a fan of the LCI front end. It's too bold, straight edged and conservative. I liked the big, curved and brash look of the pre-LCI that looked like it was staring down at you. But other than that I like the updates.
The current 5 series looks great as our new default cop car in NSW. I wasn't a fan initially but I really came to like their look. Now with this new update I can't decide...
I'm really liking BMWs new design language on their sedans/wagons. The new lights look amazing and I much prefer the square design that looks more like the 80s/90s BMWs of the past. The larger cars and hatches (eg the X5 and 2 series coupe) aren't nearly as nice. They look weird and the grills are outrageous on some models, too big for the car. I hope they continue with this more square design and make the grills less stupid.
I realized something in his icon channel.. has.. this..⚡= lucifer the devil same icon 8 years ago Hideo Kojima used in Metal Gear Solid, fox 'Kojima productions' icon..so..it's 'copyright' for this channel !

We'll get to see the new 4 Series very early next Wednesday Sydney time - I'll be fascinated to see if they've pulled it off!

The soft touch in my eight year old Mk 6 Golf is still the same as it was when new, gotta say!
